Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Fresno, CA - Brett Harper hit a two out solo home run off Jailen Peguero in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Fresno Grizzlies a 2-1 win over the Sidewinders on Sunday afternoon. The loss snaps Tucson's season best four game winning streak.

All of the game's runs came on home runs. Eugenio Velez led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot to right off Juan Gutierrez and Robby Hammock blasted a solo homer to left leading off the top of the fifth against Brad Hennessey before Harper's game winner.

Neither started factored in the decision despite the fact both pitched well. Gutierrez allowed one run on seven hits in seven innings while Hennessey gave up a run on six hits in his seven frames.

Randy Messenger worked around a leadoff single by Trot Nixon in the ninth to earn his 3rd win of the season, his 2nd against Tucson.

The Sidewinders and Grizzlies play game three of their series on Monday night at Chukchansi Park. Right-hander Yusmeiro Petit (2-2, 3.94) starts for Tucson against right-hander Matt Palmer (2-6, 5.21) for Fresno. First pitch is at 7:05. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:55.
