Toledo Mud Hens News Release

Argenis Diaz was the hero, doubling in two in the eleventh to cap off a wild 10-9 victory over the Louisville Bats on Monday night.

The Bats took an early lead after Cody Puckett hit a sac fly to deep left in the second to bring home Mike Costanzo from third. Another run scored on a Willie Harris RBI single later in the inning as the Bats went up 2-0.

The Hens responded immediately with three runs of their own to take a 3-2 lead. John Lindsey took the first pitch of the inning for a solo homer, while Argenis Diaz doubled in two later in the inning to give Toledo the lead.

Justin Henry knocked in two more for the Hens in the fourth with a bases loaded single to give the home team a 5-2 advantage.

Louisville rallied for three runs to tie the game in the sixth with a series of hits off Brooks Brown and Matt Hoffman. Jerad Head threw out a would-be run at home to keep the game tied at 5-5.

Henry Rodriguez gave the Bats the go-ahead run in the seventh when he led off the inning with his third homer of the year. Head responded with a solo shot of his own to tie it up again in the eighth.

Cody Puckett played the villain for the third straight night as his ninth inning solo homer gave the Bats a 7-6 lead over the Hens. Puckett has homered in the ninth in all three games of the series.

The Hens tied the game back up in the ninth with a Jerad Head sacrifice to send the game to extras. Both teams continued to trade punches with runs in the tenth and eleventh until the Mud Hens emerged victorious.

The Hens will look to avoid being swept in a special noon game tomorrow. Drew Smyly is set to make his first start since joining the Hens yesterday.

Game Notes

The Hens have three walk-off victories this season.

Brooks Brown struck out a season-high seven batters.

The sold-out attendance of 10,700 was the largest Monday crowd in Fifth Third Field history.
