Albany Devils News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Adam Henrique had a three-point performance, but two early third period goals by the Norfolk Admirals sunk the Devils, 4-3, Sunday afternoon. The game was the final of four contests the Devils hosted at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
Henrique finished with a goal and two assists and was joined on the score sheet by Jay Leach and Matt Anderson. The Devils are now 22-32-1-3 on the season.
For Norfolk, Mark Barberio and Johan Harju matched Henrique's output to improve their team's record to 29-17-8-5.
Albany found itself down early thanks to a pair of back-to-back goals by Norfolk. With a 5-on-3 power play, Troy Milam scored at 9:07. After that, Barberio made it 2-0 when it was 5-on-4 at 10:28.
The Devils responded with three-straight goals. First, Henrique netted his team-high 19th of the season thanks to a centering pass by Steve Zalewski at 16:04 of the first. Matt Anderson was awarded the second assist.
In the second, Leach scored on a wrist shot from the high slot for his first tally as an Albany Devils. The goal, which came at 5:28, came off a rebound from an Oliver Magnan shot.
Henrique had an assist on that goal and the one that followed at 16:41 when Anderson tipped in a shot/pass from Henrique from the left half wall. The goal was Anderson's 18th of the season and increased his point total to a team-best 42.
Jeff Frazee, who was playing in his first game since Jan. 7, finished the game with 24 saves on 26 shots, but took a brief break at the beginning of the third period for equipment repair. In his absence, the Admirals took advantage. They scored the tying goal 23 seconds in thanks to Harju and took the lead at 4:39 with a goal from Blair Jones.
Dustin Tokarski was the winning goaltender, making 17 saves on 20 shots.
The Devils will enjoy Monday off before traveling to Binghamton for a 7:05 p.m. contest on Tuesday, Mar. 1. Fans can follow that game on 104.5 FM "The Team" ESPN Radio or by logging onto AHLLive.com.
