B-Sens Release Alex Petizian, Sign Garrett Zemlak

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that they have released goaltender Alex Petizian from his professional try-out contract.

Petizian, 23, signed a PTO with the B-Sens on Feb. 13, dressing as back-up goaltender for six games, but did not play.

The Kirkland, Que. native was traded from the Ontario Reign to Binghamton's ECHL affiliate, the Elmira Jackals on Feb. 11. The 5-10, 175-pound netminder appeared in one game for the Reign this season, posting a loss and a .857 save percentage.

Also today, the Binghamton Senators announced that they have signed goaltender Garrett Zemlak to a professional try-out contract.

Zemlak, 21, was traded from the Stockton Thunder to Elmira on Jan. 31. The 6-1, 195-pound netminder has appeared in 21 total ECHL games this season with Elmira, Kalamazoo and Stockton posting a 5-9-4 record, a 2.90 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage.

The native of Saskatoon, Sask. spent four seasons (2006-10) in the Western Hockey League with the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders. Over his four-year junior career, Zemlak posted a 54-49-6 record, including five shutouts, a 3.31 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage.

The B-Sens travel to Glens Falls today to play the Adirondack Phantoms at 3 p.m. Fans can listen live on 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
