
Moose Recall Shantz & Release Mike Mole from PTO

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have recalled goaltender David Shantz from the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL. As well, they announced they have released goalie Mike Mole from his professional tryout contract.
Shantz, 24, has played in 44 games so far this season with the Salmon Kings where he's compiled a record of 21-19-3 with a goals against average of 2.79 and a save percentage of .909. In 149 career games in the ECHL, the Burlington, On native has a record of 78-49-15 with a career ECHL goals against average of 2.86 and a save percentage of .907. Last season, Shantz played in 30 games with the Abbotsford Heat with a 15-10-4 record and a goals against average of 2.75 and a save percentage of .908, along with 13 Calder Cup playoff games with the Heat with a record of 6-6 and a goals against average of 2.68. In 58 career AHL games between Rochester and Abbotsford, he has accumulated a 20-27-7 record, 3.09 goals against average, and 0.900 save percentage.
Shantz was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
