CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, took a 6-2 loss against the Corpus Christi Hooks in the series finale Monday at Whataburger Field.
BIG MOMENTS For the second time in the past three games, Scott Heineman homered to begin the game, giving the Riders a 1-0 lead. Corpus Christi's Drew Ferguson homered in the bottom of the first, tying the score. Trent Woodward's RBI double gave the Hooks the lead for good later in the inning. The Hooks added four more runs in the seventh on Bryan Muniz's two-run double and Ferguson's two-run single to make it 6-1. Hooks starter Dean Deetz earned the win, striking out four over five innings of one-run ball. Deetz allowed four hits and two walks. In his first start of the season, Frisco's James Dykstra pitched well despite the loss. He fired five innings of four-hit ball, yielding two runs and two walks with three strikeouts. With Monday's loss, the Riders have dropped three consecutive games for the first time this season. Frisco pitching has allowed 10 home runs in the past three games after allowing just one home run in the previous six games. Scott Heineman extended his on-base streak to 21 games with his leadoff home run. For Heineman, the leadoff homer was his second in the past three games and the fifth of his 21 career long balls. Isiah Kiner-Falefa recorded his team-leading ninth multi-hit game of the season with a pair of singles. WHAT'S NEXT
