Abbotsford Heat News Release
Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat open a two-game set with the Chicago Wolves (Vancouver Canucks) tonight at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre in a battle between potential Western Conference playoff foes.
The Heat currently sit in 5th spot in the Western Conference two points behind the third place Chicago Wolves, but just two points ahead of ninth place, which won't qualify for the post-season. With a win the Heat would hold the final home ice playoff spot, but a loss would see the six teams within three points gain a game in hand in the tight race for the final five playoff spots.
The Heat and Wolves have met six prior times with the Fraser Valley outfit winning three of four played in Greater Chicago, and the Canucks affiliate winning big in two prior visits to Abbotsford. The last meeting between the two clubs came on the 25th of February in Illinois where the Heat scored three unanswered third period goals to break a 1-1 tie, and earn a 4-1 win amid their five-game swing through the Midwest.
Tonight's game will honour Hockey Hall of Fame member Lanny McDonald in the Heat's inaugural Hockey Heroes Night presented by Cascades Casino. Fans will have the chance to meet Lanny at the rink and an opportunity to win $500 in the 'Wear a 'Stache. Win the Cash' contest. McDonald will answer Heat fans' questions, meet with season ticket holders and sponsors and join the broadcast on a busy day in Abbotsford.
The game begins at 7:00 and can be heard be heard on Country 107.1 beginning with the 6:30 pre-game show. The game can be also heard on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com, and on the Rogers Radio App for your wireless device.
