Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat look to extend their point streak to five games tonight as they host the Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres) for the second time in two nights at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre as the Heat present Punjabi Night in Abbotsford. Tonight's game will feature the kick-off for local Vaisakhi celebrations with live entertainment and music, and closes out a six-game home stand that has seen the Heat collect seven of a possible 10 points through five games after last night's 4-0 win.

With just five games remaining, the Heat currently occupy fourth spot in the Western Conference with 82 points, three more than the fifth place Charlotte Checkers, who hold two games-in-hand. The Americans now sit in 11th spot after being shutout by the Heat; they sit in a three way tie with 76 points that spans 10th to 12th in the Conference. Only two teams in the Western Conference have secured a playoff berth with less than two weeks remaining in the 76-game schedule.

Danny Taylor earned his team-leading fourth shutout of the season last night as he started while Leland Irving and his wife await the birth of their first child. Irving's availability is up in the air over the next few days as a result. Taylor has now posted a record of 4-1-0-2 over his last eight appearances.

The broadcast of tonight's third-to-last home game of the season begins at 6:30 on Country 107.1 with the pre-game show, followed by a 7:00 puck drop. Broadcasts are also available on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com, and on the Rogers Radio App for your wireless device.
