GRAND RAPIDS MI - Ryan Stone scored a franchise record five points and Leland Irving picked up his AHL leading 8th shutout of the season to pace the Abbotsford Heat to a 6-0 whitewash of the Grand Rapids Griffins in AHL action on Friday night in Western Michigan,

Stone would notch 2 goals and 3 assists to become the first Heat player in franchise history to tally five points in a single game. Gord Baldwin, Jon Rheault, MacGregor Sharp and Ales Kotalik also lit the lamp for the Heat, while Carter Bancks chipped in with three assists.

Irving stood tall for Abbotsford on Friday, turning aside 27 shots for his 30th win of the season as well as his AHl leading 8th shutout. The Abbotsford keeper was particularly sharp in the opening period, turning aside all 12 Griffins shots to keep the game close until the Heat stepped up and opened the game up in the final 40 minutes.

With the victory, the Heat move to 86 points on the season and keep their dreams of the playoffs alive. With two games remaining, the Heat sit three points back of Oklahoma City. Abbotsford must now win out and hope for two OK City regulation losses in hopes of catching the final playoff spot.

The Heat now moves onto Cleveland to take on the Lake Erie Monsters. Pregame show on country 107.1 FM will be at 4:15 PM, with Dave Sheldon having the call of the game at 4:30 PDT.
