
Hawks Sloppy in Loss to Volcanoes

Boise, Idaho - On a blustery night at Memorial Stadium, mishaps became the downfall for the Boise Hawks as they fell to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes by a score of 8-3.
Colin Welmon took the hill for the Hawks and picked up the loss, pitching five innings while giving up three runs - none earned - on four hits with two strikeouts.
In the bottom of the first inning with the Volcanoes leading by three runs, Luis Castro slapped an RBI single that scored Brian Mundell and tightened the score at 3-1.
The Hawks pulled to within one run in the fourth inning when Marcos Derkes scored on a fielding error by Jose Vizcaino before the Volcanoes plated four runs and pulled away for good in the seventh inning.
The Hawks would add one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning but that would be all as they fell to the to the Volcanoes by a final score of 8-3.
The Hawks (15-21) and the Volcanoes (18-18) will meet again tomorrow night for game two of this three game series. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.
