Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced the acquisition of goaltender Justen Maric from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.

Maric, 19, most recently won the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) championship with the Battlefords North Stars. In 17 regular season games, Maric posted an impressive 16-1-0-0 record with a .934 save percentage and a 2.39 goals-against average.

The Edmonton, Alta. native appeared in three games with the Warriors during the 2022-23 regular season. Maric made 29 saves on 32 shots against the Saskatoon Blades on March 3 during his lone start in Moose Jaw.

The 5-foot-11, 172-pound goaltender was originally selected by the Red Deer Rebels in the fifth round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, and was named the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Under-15 Top Goaltender prior to being selected.

Maric is expected to be in Portland for the Winterhawks' annual Neely Cup Training Camp this fall.
