Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - The Tri-City Americans are proud to announce forward Jordan Gavin has been named to Team Canada's roster for the upcoming 2023 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. The event is set for July 31 - August 5 in Breclav, Czechia and Trencin, Slovakia.
Gavin, from Surrey, B.C., was drafted second overall by the Americans in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft and made a strong first impression on the WHL by recording 54 points (22-32-54) in 62 games last season.
Born November 13, 2006, Gavin isn't eligible for the NHL Draft until 2025. He became the youngest player in Americans franchise history to score a goal on April 1, 2022, against the Seattle Thunderbirds as an affiliate call up.
The Hlinka-Gretzky tournament won't be Gavin's first time wearing a Team Canada sweater as he suited up for Team Canada Black at the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, picking up two points (1-1-2) in six games.
Gavin will become the first Americans player at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup since Sasha Mutala in 2018.
