Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Mike Haushchild allowed three hits in six innings and Chan-Jong Moon collected three knocks out of the leadoff spot as the Hooks came from behind to beat Arkansas 4-2 Sunday before 4,609 at Dickey-Stephens Park.

The victory gave Corpus Christi a series win, marking the Hooks' seventh consecutive series triumph.

Moon sparked the offense to begin the game with a ground rule double against Travelers' starter Michael Brady. Following a Jio Mier single, Moon touched home on Andrew Aplin's groundout to first base. Mier's single extended his hitting streak to nine games.

The only Arkansas damage came in the third inning. The first three Travelers notched hits, with runs scoring on a base hit by Cal Towey and a double play ball by Brian Hernandez.

Outside of the third inning, Hauschild dominated. He induced 12 groundball outs, including two double play balls. The former Dayton Flyer walked three, hit two batters and struck out one.

Corpus Christi tied the contest in the fifth, when reliever Austin Wood issued a bases loaded to walk to Andrew Aplin, and retook the lead in the sixth, on RBI hits from Leo Heras and Roberto Pena.

Josh Hader, who faced two hitters in the Hooks' Friday no-hitter, threw three hitless frames to nail down his first save of the year.

The Hooks have not lost back-to-back game since May 2-3, a stretch of 26 games. Corpus Christi also put the finishing touches on the best May in club history, completing the month with a record of 20-9.

Following a Monday off-day, the Hooks open a six-game homestand against Northwest Arkansas and Arkansas. Tuesday night's game features Corpus Christi's Vince Velasquez (2-0, 1.40) versus the Naturals' Miguel Almonte (4-2, 3.83) at 7:05.
