Harrisburg Uses Late Inning Surges to Sink Curve, 13-4

Harrisburg, PA - The Curve were able to grab an early 2-1 lead over Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon, but the Senators scored a 12 of their 13 runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to cruise to a 13-4 victory at Metro Bank Park on City Island.

After falling behind 1-0, the Altoona Curve would tie the game 1-1 in the third on a Chase d'Arnaud RBI double that scored Miles Durham.

The Curve (57-36) would take a 2-1 lead on Matt Hague's 11th home run of the year, a solo shot in the top of the fourth to put Altoona ahead.

The Senators (46-49) wouyld tack on a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against starter Justin Wilson and would not look back. Wilson, who tossed six solid innings of three-run, five-hit baseball striking out five would leave on the bottom end of a 3-2 stick and was the pitcher of record.

Against Corey Hamman who was throwing in a competitive baseball game for the first time since June 29 with Indianapolis (AAA) would allow a total of eight earned runs on six hits in 1.1 innings in the seventh and the eighth.

Also in the eighth, Dustin Molleken allowed a pair of runs on three hits over 0.2 innings to cap off the Senators scoring.

In the game, Gorkys Hernandez went 0-for-4 and had his 16-game hitting streak snapped. The streak was the fourth longest in franchise history.

The Altoona Curve will continue their seven-game road trip on Monday night as they open a three-game series at Canal Park against the Akron Aeros (49-45) at 7:05 p.m. The Curve will send LHP Rudy Owens (8-3, 3.00) to the mound against 2009 Cleveland first-round pick righty Alex White (4-4, 1.53). Airtime on flagship radio station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliates begins at 6:35 p.m.
