Harrisburg Senators News Release

Today's Game... The Senators wrap up their longest homestand of the year today with the final game of a fivegame series with the Akron Aeros. The Senators started this homestand eight games behind Akron, and with a win today, can finish the homestand trailing Akron by 6.5 games, 1 1/2 games better than when they started the homestand. With Altoona's loss on Saturday night to Bowie, the Aeros lead the Altoona Curve by 1 1/2 games and the Senators trail the Curve by six games. The Senators and the Curve still play 13 times this season, including Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in Altoona. The Senators are 5-6 on the current homestand and look to draw even on the homestand with a win this afternoon.

Last Time Out... The Senators and Akron Aeros played the same game twice on Saturday, Akron won the first one 7-2 and the Senators won the second one 5-2. After losing game one, and falling behind 1-0 in game two, the Senators scored twice in the first and three more times in the second to take control of game two. In the bottom of the first Tim Raines walked and stole second. He eventually moved to third on a single by Kory Casto and they were at first and third with two outs and Frank Diaz at the plate. Diaz rolled a ball up the third base line that hit the bag for his first hit since coming off the disabled list, scoring Raines and tying the game. After that Akron starter Dan Denham experienced wildness walking both Dan DeMent and Salomon Manriquez, the latter forcing in a run. In the second inning, with two outs, Marco Yepez singled. Kory Casto followed with a walk. After a passed ball moved the runners to second and third, Prentice Redman singled them both in to give the Sens a 4-1 lead. Redman promptly stole second base and scored on a base hit to left by Frank Diaz. Beltran Perez and the Senators defense took over from there. Perez went all seven innings for the win, allowing eight hits, striking out just three but he didn't walk a batter. The Senators turned two double plays, one coming in the seventh inning with two on and no outs and the other in the fourth inning after Akron had put two on with no outs. In game one, Kip Bouknight started and gave the bullpen some much needed rest going all seven innings while allowing 11 hits and 7 runs. Akron scored single runs in the first two innings, then broke the game open in the third with five runs. Dan DeMent and Josh Whitesell homered for the lone Senators runs.
