Hammell, Roest, Metzger Named to NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings

CALGARY, Alta. - Three Everett Silvertips are among the 54 Western Hockey League players listed on the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings ahead of the 2023 NHL Draft. Defenseman Kaden Hammell, forward Austin Roest and goaltender Tim Metzger are among those recognized for North American skaters and goaltenders, respectively.

Hammell, an '05-born Langley, B.C. native, is ranked 95th amongst North American skaters as a defender. He finished the 2022-23 season with eight goals and 18 assists with 128 SOG in 67 games played split between the Kamloops Blazers and Everett Silvertips. Of his 26 points, 16 came as a Silvertip in 31 appearances post-trade deadline. Since being drafted 19th-overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Hammell has skated in 131 career games. He recorded 14 points in 57 games his rookie campaign in 2021-22.

Roest, an '04-born Coldstream, B.C. native, is ranked 113th amongst North American skaters as a center. He finished third amongst all U.S. division skaters in scoring with 78 points in 60 games played, behind only Seattle's Jared Davidson (82) and teammate Jackson Berezowski (81). He registered 32 goals and 46 assists, with 21 points coming on the powerplay.

Metzger, an '05-born Zurich, SUI import, is ranked 31st amongst North American goaltenders. He appeared in 17 total contests this season- nine starts- finishing with a 4-5-0 record plus a 3.35 goals-against average and a .888 save-percentage. The 6'6 ‚¬Â³, 205-lb. netminder's best performance came on Feb. 11, turning aside 32 of 33 in a shootout victory over the Spokane Chiefs. He recorded a career-high 42 saves, albeit in a loss, at Seattle on Mar. 11.
