Three Americans Players Named to NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings
April 18, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, Wash. - NHL Central Scouting released their 2022-23 Final Rankings for the upcoming NHL Draft today. Fifty-four total players from the Western Hockey League were recognized including three from the Tri-City Americans: Lukas Dragicevic, Deagan McMillan, and Tomas Suchanek.
Dragicevic is ranked 18th and McMillan 108th amongst North American skaters. Suchanek is listed at 9th overall for North American goaltenders.
The rankings are Central Scouting's compilation of top prospects from all the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe.
Dragicevic, from Richmond, B.C., had an exceptional 2022-23 season by recording 75 points (15-60-75) while appearing in all 68 games. He then added four assists in six playoff games. Dragicevic's 75 points were fourth amongst WHL defensemen and led all 2005-born Canadian Hockey League defenders. He also set a new Americans franchise record with a 27-game point streak from October 14 to December 30, picking up 37 points (7-30-37) over that span.
Dragicevic was recently named to Hockey Canada's roster for the IIHF Under-18 World Championship, which will take place April 20-30 in Basel and Porrentruy, Switzerland.
McMillan, a native of Vernon, B.C., appears on Central Scouting's list for the first time. The six-foot-two and 196-pound forward totaled 47 points (17-30-47) through 65 games played this season. Improving from just seven points (3-4-7) over 45 games last year.
Suchanek, from Prerov, Czechia, finished his second season with Tri-City by setting new career highs across the board in 2022-23.
The 2003-born goaltender posted a record of 27-14-1-2 over 46 games, winning 15 more games than 2021-22. He recorded a 3.05 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage, up from 3.87 and .901 in 2021-22. He finished fifth in shots faced (1,516) and fourth in saves (1,383) amongst all WHL goalies.
Suchanek firmly put himself on the map during the recent 2023 World Junior Championship (WJC), backstopping Czechia all the way to the gold medal game where they ultimately fell to Team Canada in overtime.
He appears on Central Scouting's Final rankings after going unselected in 2022.
The 2023 draft will be held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. on June 27 and 28.
The Americans are now selling season tickets for the 2023-24 season.
