CLEVELAND, OH - The Barons' Jim Fahey scored a shorthanded goal at 15:35 of the second period, which also proved to be the game winner, as Cleveland defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-1 at the National City Rink at Gund Arena on Friday night.
The Bulldogs record through 59 games now stands at 24 wins, 24 losses, 6 overtime losses and 5 overtime losses.
The Barons opened the game's scoring at the 7:36 mark of the first period. Defenceman Aaron Gill scored his third goal of the season with assists going to Jim Fahey and Mike Hoffman.
Into the second period, and at 15:35 Jim Fahey gave the Barons a 2-0 lead with a shorthanded goal. Fahey grabbed the puck at centre ice, went in on a breakaway and fired a shot through the legs of Bulldogs' goaltender Yann Danis. Josh Gorges and Marcel Goc added assists on the play.
The Bulldogs finally got on the scoreboard with 3:36 remaining in regulation time. Forward Duncan Milroy scored his 12th goal of the season. Tomas Plekanec and James Sanford assisted on Hamilton's lone goal of the contest.
Goaltender Yann Danis made 35 saves in his fifth consecutive start for the Bulldogs. Nolan Schaefer earned the win by stopping 27 shots for Cleveland.
Defenceman Mike Komisarek played in his first game of the season for the Bulldogs after missing most of the season with a hip injury.
The Hamilton Bulldogs return to action Saturday night when they once again will face the Cleveland Barons at National City Rink at Gund Arena.
