Binghamton Senators News Release

Billy Thompson stopped all 31 Norfolk shots for his first shutout of the season and the Senators rolled to a 2-0 victory on Friday night before a sold-out crowd at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Christoph Schubert fired a slap shot past Admirals goaltender Michael Leighton at 8:45 of the third period for the game's first goal. Schubert's eighth goal of the season was assisted by Antoine Vermette.

Binghamton got themselves an insurance goal at the 14:09 mark of the third period when Vermette was able to put the puck home himself this time. Vermette tipped a centering feed from winger Josh Langfeld past Leighton to give the Sens a 2-0 lead.

Billy Thompson was outstanding in net for Binghamton as he stopped all 31 shots he faced while Michael Leighton was also impressive for the Admirals making 45 saves on 47 shots in the loss.

Neither squad could get anything going on the power play with Binghamton going scoreless on five chances and Norfolk unable to capitalize on their three opportunities.

The Sens are back in action on Saturday night when the Albany River Rats make their final visit to The Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage kicking off at 6:35 p.m. on 680-AM WINR.
