Haerther Bests All AA Batters July

The American Association announced today that Winnipeg Goldeyes infielder Casey Haerther has been named the league's Rawlings Player of the Month for July.

Haerther, 26, hit .425 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 27 games during July to maintain his lead atop the American Association batting race. He strung together a 17-game hitting streak from June 20-July 6 and had a 12-game hitting streak from July 10-22. He ended the month with hits in five consecutive games and competed in the 2014 American Association All-Star Game as the starting first baseman for the North.

On the season, Haerther is hitting a league-best .399 with nine home runs and 48 RBI. He also leads the league with 108 hits, is second with 25 doubles and fourth in extra-best hits with 34.

Haerther has also won the league's player of the week award twice this season and this is the second time this season a Goldeyes player has won a monthly league award. Pitcher Nick Hernandez won the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month award for June.

The Goldeyes continue an eight-game road trip in Sioux Falls tonight against the Canaries. The pre-game show on Jewel 101 with Steve Schuster begins at 6:30 p.m. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
