
Gutierrez, Standridge win Bats monthly awards

Louisville, KY - First baseman Jesse Gutierrez and RHP Jason Standridge have been named Hitter and Pitcher of the Month for May for the Louisville Bats.
During the month of May, Gutierrez batted .319 (23-72) with two home runs, 16 RBI, seven doubles and nine runs scored. Gutierrez, 27, is second on the team in RBI (25), walks (18), hits (45), doubles (12) and games played (45). Gutierrez is currently batting .297 (47-158).
Gutierrez, a native of Texas, is making his Triple-A debut this season. He underwent season-ending surgery last May after tearing the ACL in his left knee and was leading the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts in RBI at the time of his injury.
Standridge, a reliever, went 0-0 and posted a 0.00 ERA in 11 appearances for the Bats during the month of May; his 12 1/3 innings pitched led all relievers. Opponents batted .217 off the Alabama native.
The 27-year-old Standridge is 1-2 with a 2.81 ERA in 23 appearances for Louisville. Standridge's 25 2/3 innings pitched and 23 strikeouts lead all relievers.
