
Gutierrez Optioned To Bisons

The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have activated infielder Andy Marte off his Major League rehabilitation assignment with the Bisons. To make room on the big league roster, outfielder Franklin Gutierrez was optioned to Buffalo.
The Bisons also placed catcher Mike Rose on the disabled list.
Gutierrez returns to the Bisons where he played 19 games from April 12-May 5 and hit .358 (29-81) with five doubles, two home runs and 10RBI. In five games with the Tribe, Gutierrez hit .200 (1-5) with one RBI.
Gutierrez currently has an active 16-game hit streak at the Triple-A level. From April 16 - May 5, he hit .384 (28-73).
Rose has hit .264 (23-87) with a home run and 16RBI in 27 games. He's the top defensive catcher in the International League, having thrown out 11 of 17 would-be basestealers (64.7%)..
Marte joined the Bisons on April 28 and hit .242 (8-33) with two home runs and third RBI in 10 games. He went 4-4 with a home run and two RBI on May 14 in Rochester. Marte began the 2007 season in Cleveland and hit .179 (7-39) in 13 games before being placed on the disabled list.
