
Burnett shuts down Bisons

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Left-hander Sean Burnett allowed just three hits over six scoreless innings, while first baseman Yurendell de Caster went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI as Indianapolis posted a 6-0 win over Buffalo Saturday night at Dunn Tire Park.
The Indians improve to 25-16 overall and 13-6 on the road, while the Bisons fall to 24-15 on the season and 9-8 at home. The Tribe is now 10-3 in the opening affair of a series this year. Indianapolis continues to lead the International League's West Division by 4.5 games over Louisville.
Burnett (6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 3 SO), who improved to 4-3 with the win, picked up his fourth quality start of the campaign. The 25-year-old had not won a game since April 18 after notching a âW' his first three decisions of 2007.
Tribe CF Rajai Davis (1-for-5) extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double to right field in his final at bat of the night.
Indianapolis grabbed the lead in the first when SS Brian Bixler smacked a triple to left and crossed the plate on De Caster's first single of the night.
The Indians increased their advantage with a pair of runs in the third when the Bisons commited two throwing errors. The Tribe took advantage of another throwing miscue in the fifth en route to a three-run inning.
Buffalo LHP Rafael Perez (6.0 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO) suffered the loss, falling to 3-2.
RHP Franquelis Osoria (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 2 SO) and RHP Jesse Chavez (2.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 SO) worked the final three frames to secure the Indians fifth shutout of the season.
Indianapolis and Buffalo square off in game two of the four-game set on on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Indians RHP Bryan Bullington is scheduled to face Bisons RHP Sean Smith.
The contest will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 12:45 p.m.
