Guelph Storm News Release

The Storm started off their Western Conference Quarterfinal series against the Plymouth Whalers on Saturday night in Plymouth. Jumping out to a 1-0 lead, Jamie Arniel scored just 50 seconds into the contest to give the Storm an early start and help set the tone for the game. The Storm lead 2-1 for most of the match on a goal by Matt Kennedy in the first, but a late third period goal by the Whalers Daniel Ryder erased the lead and forced overtime. The Whalers would go on to eventually win the contest 3-2. With a quick turnaround the two teams faced off against each other the next night in Guelph. Sunday night at the GSEC, the Storm built a 3-0 lead before a four goal Plymouth outburst in the second period erased the Guelph lead and turned the game around 180 degrees. Three Storm powerplay goals in the first twenty-three minutes of the contest staked the home side to an early lead, but five unanswered Plymouth goals deflated the Storm and handed the Whalers their second win in as many nights. The Whalers currently lead the series 2-0 with the third game Tuesday night in Plymouth. The next home game for the Storm is on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
