Mason Named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that London Knights' goaltender Steve Mason is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 25, 2007. Mason stopped 106 of 110 shots to post a 1.92 goals against average and .964 save percentage in the opening two games of the Knights' Western Conference playoffs versus the Owen Sound Attack.

Friday night, he made 45 saves in a 6-3 victory at home and the following night, Mason recorded 61 saves in a 2-1 overtime win, which earned him first star honors. The Knights' hold a 2-0 series lead, as they return home to the John Labatt Centre for game three this evening.

The 17-year-old native of Oakville, Ontario led all goalies with 45 wins during the 2006-07 OHL regular season, which was an OHL single season record.
