GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that "Greenville Sports and Arena, LLC" has finalized the purchase of the Grrrowl. The ECHL's Board of Governors unanimously approved the sale of the Grrrowl to this group of local investors Tuesday afternoon.
"Greenville Sports and Arena, LLC" is a group of 14 local investors who have assumed some of the liabilities of "Greenville Professional Hockey, LLC," the previous owner. In addition to the Grrrowl, the group has also acquired future management rights and profits of the BI-LO Center starting in 2013.
The BI-LO Center will host the return of playoff hockey this Saturday, April 16th, as the Grrrowl play the Pensacola Ice Pilots in Game 3 of the American Conference Quarterfinals at 7:05 p.m. Should the best-of-five playoff series require a fourth game, the Grrrowl would host that as well, with the puck set to drop at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19th.
The first two games of the series are scheduled for this Thursday and Friday in Pensacola, FL, with the start times listed at 8:05 p.m. for both nights. Game 5 of the series would be played back in Pensacola, if necessary.
