Growlers Sweep Loggers, Win 6-5

Kalamazoo, Mich - A crowd of 2,522 saw the Kalamazoo Growlers beat the Lacrosse Loggers by a score of 6-5 on Pink Out the Park Night, a collaboration with the Susan G. Komen foundation in support breast cancer research.

The Growlers (6-10) sported special edition pink jersey's and part of the proceeds from the night were donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Although the Growlers totaled just seven hits against the Loggers, they capitalized with runners on base which translated into six runs, three of which came in the seventh inning.

Growlers starter Ryan Colegate (Ohio Dominican) went six innings and gave up three runs. Chicago State product Eric Hall gets the win in middle relief. John Schreiber came in the top of the ninth inning and shut the door on the Loggers, Schreiber receives the save.

Troy Montgomery (Ohio State) continued his impressive All-Star campaign, he went 3-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs. Montgomery improves his batting average to .358 on the season. Newly added Growler Justin Fletcher doubled in the bottom of the seventh inning which gave the Growlers the lead. Fletcher went 1-for-2 with 3 RBI's and a run.

The Growlers kick off a home and home series against cross town rival the Battle Creek Bombers on Saturday, July 19th at C.O. Brown Stadium. Game time is at 7:05 p.m. The Growlers return home to Homer Stryker Field on Sunday, July 20th to complete their series with the Bombers.

Sunday, July 20th is Eaton Family Funday Sunday. It is also Carnival Night presented by Educational Union. Fans in attendance will participate in carnival games. There will be inflatable fun and more presented by Vertical Edge Entertainment. Team posters will be given away presented by ECCU.
