Woodchucks Score Early and Often on Bombers

Wausau, WIS - The Wisconsin Woodchucks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back defeating the Battle Creek Bombers 9-1.

Three straight hits in the Woodchucks' (11-7) first at-bat started the scoring on the night. Brendon Hayden brought home the first run in the inning with a single to left field scoring Taylor Kohlwey. Jake Scudder then hit a sacrifice fly to left field that brought in Zach Arnold.

The Woodchucks continued the scoring in the second inning when Arnold this time drove Connor Beck with a single of his own. Kohlwey came into score later in the inning on a wild pitch by Bombers' (7-10) starting pitcher Zac Ryan.

The Woodchucks would go on to score five more runs in the game to open the game wide open.

Scudder and Beck both drove in three runs on the night en route to a 9-1 win.

The win was awarded to Andy Ravel who pitched seven inning only hitting one bump in the road while striking out a season-high ten batters.

The Woodchucks will travel to Wisconsin Rapids tomorrow night to play the Rafters. The Rafters will then return to Athletic Park on Sunday to take on the Woodchucks which will be the last game before the Northwoods League All-Star Break. First pitch on Sunday is set for 5:05.
