Anchors Lose Late on Thursday

Alexandria, Minn. - The Anchors traveled to Waterloo Thursday for game one with the Bucks. The Bucks would take that game by a score of 6-1.

Alexandria would strike first. Kris Goodman would single, then put himself in scoring position by swiping second base. Jordan Lee would get his 20th RBI of the season on a single that would score Goodman.

Waterloo would come back in the fourth inning. Andrew Thome would walk the first batter of the inning, David Kerian. He would then score on a Mikal Hill single. Thome would have to be lifted from the ball game with the bases loaded after taking a ball off the foot that was hit up the middle. Pat MacKenzie with one out in the inning would score John Sternagel on a fielder's choice.

The Bucks would take the 2- 1 into the eighth until Kevin Kaczmarski would hit a grand slam for the Bucks and put them up 6-1. The Anchors couldn't get a rally started in the ninth. Adam Dian would come in and close the game out for the Bucks.

The same two teams take the field Friday night with a first pitch of 7:05 pm in Waterloo.

Notes: The Blue Anchors next game home game is Saturday July 19th vs. the Duluth Huskies at 7:05pm. It is "Night of the Classics" at the park. Vintage cars on Elm Street prior to the game and the first 500 fans receive a print of Knute Nelson Ballpark dating back to the early 1900's. Douglas County Car Care will also be on hand.
