Kalamazoo Growlers News Release
Kalamazoo, Mich. - On a rest-day for the majority of the Growlers lineup, Kalamazoo fell to the Kenosha Kingfish 9-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kenosha began the scoring on the first at-bat of the ballgame with Giovanny Lorenzo hitting his first home run of the season by launching a ball way over the left-field wall.
- Lorenzo would come up again in the third inning and bring home Dan Laughery on an RBI single. The Kingfish would blow it open in the third, scoring seven runs on six hits and two walks while putting 11 men up to the plate.
- The Growlers rested six of their normal nine starters Friday after clinching their spot in the postseason and after finding two hits in the first, they would go without one for the next five straight innings.
- Kenosha starter Brody Krzysiak, who just ended his senior season of high school, dominated across his first six innings. The righty headed to Oakland U this fall went a season-high six innings, striking out a season-high seven batters.
- Kalamazoo would finally find some life offensively in the seventh scoring two runs on an RBI single from Ryan Henrickson. The base-knock was his first in two years. After chasing Krzysiak out of the game, Kalamazoo would add on another four in the eighth inning to make it a ballgame before coming up short in the ninth.
