Growlers Drop Slugfest to Loggers 15-12

Kalamazoo, Mich - The Kalamazoo Growlers lost to the La Crosse Loggers in Northwoods League action by a score of 15-12.

A crowd of 2,589 saw the two teams combine for 28 total hits and four home runs in a high scoring shootout.

Kalamazoo's (15-19) offense was bolstered by L.K. Thompson (Florida International) who went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a sixth inning home run into the Bell's Bear Cave. Karl Sorenson (St. Cloud State) also added to the attack who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Growlers starting pitcher and St. Cloud State product Danny Mokrzycki struggled as he was only able to stretch his outing two innings. He gave up four hits, two of which were home runs into left field. Mokrzycki also gave up five earned runs and was given the loss.

The Growlers head into the second of a four game homestand on Friday, August 8 at 7:05 p.m. and look to split the series with the Loggers.

Friday is Max Scherzer Bobblehead Night. The Growlers will give the Cy Young Award winners bobblehead to the first 500 fans in attendance. Also, the Growlers will give away a flat screen television to a lucky fan. The night will conclude with post-game fireworks presented by Walmart/Sam's Club.
