Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - With the countdown for the playoffs slowly dwindling, the Kingfish were finally able to break through the impressive pitching of the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Kingfish won by a score of 3-2 thanks to a three run homer run from Taylor Douglas.
The Kingfish found themselves trailing 2-0 after six innings of work from starter J.D Nielsen. Nielsen went for five innings, giving up two runs on four hits.
Bullfrog's starter Roberto Baroniel was a tough opponent for the Kingfish as he went for seven innings and struck out 11. Duffy Dyer's team did not let that deter them and in the seventh, they fought back. With two outs, C.J. Saylor reached first safely on an error by the Bullfrog's shortstop. Alex Borglin then singled to bring up centerfielder Taylor Douglas with two on board. On a 2-1 pitch, the centerfielder crushed a home run over the left field wall for his first home run of the year.
Steven Klimek came in and pitched a frame to receive the win while Paul Schuster entered in relief, and stuck out six in his three innings of work. Schuster grabbed his tenth save of the year.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks also won, keeping things as they were in the standings, with the Kingfish a game and a half behind overall in the season.
The Kingfish return to Kenosha on Saturday for the final two games of the home season. The series will be against the Battle Creek Bombers with Saturday's game at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday's at 5:05 p.m. Both games will be CCB Fan Appreciation Nights, Saturday night will have light up batons and Sunday will include rally towels.
As the Kingfish continue their quest for a playoff berth, playoff tickets are on sale now. For further information regarding playoff scheduling and ticket pricing, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
