Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Fresno, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies pulled off an incredible comeback on Saturday night, rallying for eight runs over the final two innings to stun Rancho Cucamonga, 10-9 at Chukchansi Park.

Grant Lavigne's walk-off, two-run homer capped a three-run ninth, as the Grizzlies earned their fourth straight win over Rancho.

Lavigne's homer was the fifth of the night for the Grizzlies' offense and 11th of the series.

Leading 9-2 in the eighth, Rancho's bullpen fell apart, as Nelfri Contreras and Daniel Cruz combined to give up five in the eighth, bringing Fresno to within two at 9-7.

Carlos Alejo (2-1) opened the ninth with a walk and a pair of wild pitches, but struck out Zac Veen to take back some of the momentum. Ezequiel Tovar, who homered in the five-run eighth, followed with a sinking double to right, driving in Eddy Diaz to make it 9-8. The game wouldn't last much longer, as Lavigne connected to right-center for his third home run of the series and fifth of the year.

Jorbit Vivas homered and had four of Rancho's 16 hits in the loss. Imanol Vargas had three RBIs for Rancho.

Robbie Peto was outstanding on the hill, as he went a career-high 5.2 innings, handing off a 6-1 lead to the bullpen.

The Quakes (25-27) will look to end the four-game slide on Sunday, as they finish off their 12-game road trip at 6:35pm against the Grizzlies. Rancho will start Jimmy Lewis (0-2) against Fresno's Sam Weatherly (2-4) in the finale.

On Tuesday, July 6th, the Quakes return to LoanMart Field for another Temblores Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
