Grizzlies Top Aviators 3-2 in Extra Innings Blake Brown led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a solo home run to propel the Gateway Grizzlies (13-25) to a 3-2 walk off victory over the Rockford Aviators (24-12) in Frontier League baseball action Saturday night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL.
The Aviators tallied both of their runs on solo homers by Brian Bistagne in the fifth and Dusty Robinson in the seventh against Gateway starter Vincent Molesky, who went 7.2 innings allowing just four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Meanwhile, Rockford starter Tony Rizzotti went 5.2 innings yielding only two runs (on a fifth inning double by Rolando Gomez) as part of a line that included seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Brett Zawacki (3-1) posted the win with a scoreless 10th frame while Colby Holmes (1-3) took the loss by surrendering the homer to Brown on his only pitch of the game.
The teams conclude their series Sunday night (6:05 pm) at GCS Ballpark before the Aviators return home to host the Florence Freedom in a three game series beginning Tuesday night (6:35 pm) at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL.
