Evansville, IN - The Evansville Otters dropped a close game to the Gateway Grizzlies, as Gateway completed the sweep of the Otters at Bosse Field with a 5-4 victory.
Evansville jumped out to an early 2-0 on an RBI double by Justin Carr that scored Matt Reynolds, while Carr came around to score later in the inning on a double play ball. Gateway answered with two runs of their own in the top of the 2nd to knot the score at 2-2 before scoring 2 more in the 4th and adding another in the 5th, taking a 5-2 lead after 5 ½. The Otters rallied for two runs in the bottom half of the 5th on an RBI single by JC Field, followed by a double by Reynolds that scored Kyle Smith, but that was all the runs that Evansville would score, making the final tally 5-4.
The Otters will visit River City for a two game series starting tomorrow, then travel to Florence to take on the Freedom in a three game set before returning back home on July 7th to host Chillicothe.
