Gateway Grizzlies News Release

Mike Breyman's 45th home run in a Grizzlies uniform proved the be the difference Sunday evening as the Gateway Grizzlies defeated the Evansville Otters 5-4 in front of 4,051 at Bosse Field in Evansville, IN. The 45 home runs ties Breyman with current Grizzlies manager Phil Warren for the most all-time in a Grizzlies uniform.

Breyman's home run was one of 15 hits banged out by the Grizzlies as they swept the four-game series from Evansville.

After going down 2-0 in the first, the Grizzlies came back to tie the game in the second. Jesse Acosta plated Greg Andrews and Josh Dietz with a single. Both had singled in the inning.

Kyle Bradburry hit his second career home run, and his second in as many nights, in the third. The two run shot made it 4-2. Breyman's home run extended the lead to 5-2 in the fifth inning. The Otters would add two in the fifth but would draw no closer. The two home runs in the game gave the Grizzlies six in the four-game series and a league-high 55 for the year.

Toro Trevino (6-0) earned the win for the Grizzlies going eight innings, his longest outing of the year. He allowed all four runs on eight hits. He struck out one. Eric Ridener tossed a perfect ninth inning, striking out one, for his 11th save of the year. That is good for second in the Frontier League.

The Grizzlies return home to host the Southern Illinois Miners Monday night at GCS Ballpark. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
