LOVES PARK, IL- The Gateway Grizzlies dropped their third consecutive game Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Rockford RiverHawks 11-2 in game two of a three-game series at Road Ranger Stadium. The Grizzlies drop to 0-5 this year in Rockford.

Rockford (17-21) scored early and often Wednesday afternoon. They scored three times in the first and never trailed, scoring runs in every inning except the third and eighth.

The Grizzlies (13-24), who drop to a season-worst 11 games under the .500 mark with the loss, got RBIs from Brad Thoma and Stephen Holdren. Thoma singled in the second inning to drive in Chad Rothford, who had doubled to start the inning. Thoma finished 1-4. Holdren singled in the seventh to score Brandon Peters. Holdren finished 1-4.

Alex Kerins finished the day 3-5. He was the only Gateway player with more than a single-hit. Joseph Scaperotta singled in the third inning to extend his franchise-record hitting streak to 20 consecutive games.

Paige Dumont took the loss for the Grizzlies, lasting only 4.2 innings. Dumont, appearing for the first time for the Grizzlies, allowed seven runs, six earned, on 11 hits. He walked two and did not strike out a hitter. Dumont was acquired from Edmonton in the Golden League earlier in the week. John Maschino allowed four runs in 3.1 innings of relief.

The Grizzlies and RiverHawks will conclude the series with a 7:05 pm game Thursday night in Rockford.
