Grizzlies clinch second straight playoff spot
August 27, 2004 - Frontier League (FL)
Gateway Grizzlies News Release
For the second time in as many years, the Gateway Grizzlies will be playing in September.
The Grizzlies defeated the first place Rockford RiverHawks 2-0 Thursday night in Rockford. At the same time, Mid-Missouri knocked off River City, which eliminated the Rascals and guaranteed Gateway a playoff spot.
The Grizzlies and RiverHawks meet Friday night for the finale of their three game series. With Thursday's victory, Gateway moved to one game back of the RiverHawks.
Both the Grizzlies and Rockford will be on the road for the final three games of the regular season. Gateway will travel to Windy City to take on the ThunderBolts, who have currently lost 18 straight games, while Rockford will take on Mid-Missouri.
With the West Division being a tight race, there is no way of telling which team will have home field advantage. If Gateway were to finish in first place, the Grizzlies would host game one (September 1st), game two (September 2nd), and game five if needed (September 5th). If the Grizzlies were to finish in second place, they would host game three (September 3rd) and game four (September 4th).
Playoff tickets are currently on sale and you can purchase them by calling (618) 337-3000 or by visiting the Grizzlies office.
