The Gateway Grizzlies banged out a season-high 18 hits, but it wasn't enough, as the Mid-Missouri Mavericks won their first game of the season, beating the Grizzlies 12-7 Monday night at Taylor Stadium in Columbia, MO.

The Grizzlies are now 5-7. Mid-Missouri is 1-10.

Brad Drewes(0-1) suffered the loss. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings allowing six runs on 11 hits. He did not walk a batter, and struck out five.

Ben Margalski continued to swing a hot bat. Margalski, who came in hitting .391, went 4-5 with an RBI. Mike Breyman filled in admirably for an ailing Phil Warren. Breyman went 3-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Freddy Lopez was also 3-5 with a solo home run.

The Grizzlies and the Frontier League take a day off Tuesday before welcoming the Windy City ThunderBolts to GMC Stadium for a three-game series beginning Wednesday night.
