Grizzlies Acquire Scero From Mississippi

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced tonight that the team has acquired forward Brandon Scero from the Mississippi Sea Wolves in exchange for forward Ryan Cruthers.

The Grizzlies are proud to be the ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.

After four years of college hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Scero joined Mississippi late in the regular season last year tallying four goals and three assists for seven points in nine games.

At Omaha, the Canton, Michigan native had 55 goals and 59 assists for 114 points in 147 games. Prior to college, Scero played two seasons with the U.S. National Under 18-team.

The Grizzlies open the 2008-2009 season Saturday, October 18 at Idaho. The home opening weekend for Utah is Friday and Saturday October 24 and 25 versus Alaska at the E-Center.

The Utah Grizzlies, of the ECHL, celebrate their 15th anniversary season in 2008-2009. Owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group, the Grizzlies enter their second season and sixth overall as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. Utah resident Jason Christie begins his fourth season as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the club, which advanced to the National Conference Finals in 2007-2008. The Grizzlies play all home games at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
