Lynx add Brooks, Bordeleau

AUGUSTA, Ga.−The Augusta Lynx have agreed to terms with left wing Patrick Bordeleau and signed defenseman Chris Brooks, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today.
Brooks, 26, had 17 penalty minutes in 13 regular-season games with the Lynx last season after coming over from the Wheeling Nailers at the trade deadline. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of New York City also had an assist and four penalty minutes in five Kelly Cup Playoff games last season. Brooks has 10 points (one goal, nine assists) and 133 penalty minutes in 118 career regular-season ECHL games with Wheeling and Augusta from the 2006-07 season through 2007-08.
"Chris is a big, strong body on the blueline whom I expect to have a big year for the Lynx," Marks said. "He's bringing another year of experience to Augusta, and I firmly believe that the more experience defensemen get, the better they become."
Prior to turning pro, Brooks had six assists and 52 penalty minutes in 51 career games with Yale University of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference from the 2003-04 season through 2005-06.
Bordeleau, 22, had 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) and 71 penalty minutes in 51 games during his rookie season last year while splitting time between Charlotte, Wheeling and Pensacola. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, flourished under Marks' tutelage in Pensacola, as he notched 18 (seven goals, 11 assists) of his 22 points and 60 penalty minutes in 38 games with the Ice Pilots.
"Patrick is a big kid who certainly has a physical presence," Marks said. "He's a tough kid with great hands whom I think has a bright future."
Prior to turning pro, Bordeleau had 133 points (51 goals and 82 assists) and 267 penalty minutes in 218 career games with Val-d'Or, Drummondville and Acadie-Bathurst of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from the 2003-04 season through 2006-07. Bordeleau also had three points (two goals, one assist) and 15 penalty minutes in 12 career QMJHL playoff games. Bordeleau was originally drafted 114th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
