Grizzlies Acquire Defenseman Laux

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach Jason Christie announced today the team has acquired defenseman James Laux (LOWKS) in a trade from the Wheeling Nailers. In the trade, Utah parts with left wing Eric Sonnenberg.

Last year, Laux logged 56 games in Wheeling, scoring 10 goals with 12 assists. During the 2003-2004 season, the 6-foot-2 inch blue liner spent 23 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL tallying seven points (4 goals, 3 assists). He attended training camp with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2003.

"James is a solid player who will add to the depth on our blue line. We're really excited to have him in Utah," said Grizzlies Head Coach Jason Christie.

The 25-year-old Cherry Hill, New Jersey native played two years collegiately at Colorado College, where the Tigers reached the NCAA quarterfinals both years.

The Grizzlies open the regular season Friday at the E-Center when they host Phoenix. Individual game tickets are on sale now at the E-Center box office and Smith's Tix locations.
