Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, Ohio) Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that they have received forward Todd Jackson and goaltender Logan Koopmans from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Player bios follow this release.
Koopmans, drafted by Detroit in the fifth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, had a record of 12-10-1 with Toledo last season. Logan also finished the year with a 2.82 goals against average and a .906 save percentage, and was the ECHL Saver of the Week for the week of November 15th-21st. Koopmans did not appear in a game for Grand Rapids this season. "Logan has the make up and skill to become an elite goaltender in this league," said Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Nick Vitucci.
Like Koopmans, Jackson played a majority of his games in Toledo last season. "Todd can be an offensive threat for us this season, said Nick Vitucci. "We saw a lot of his explosiveness last year." Jackson, selected by Detroit Red Wings in the 8th round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, scored 25 points (12g, 13a) in his 35 contests with the Storm. Todd has yet to suit up for the Griffins this season, but did appear in 30 games a season ago with the Griffins.
Opening night 2005 is October 21st against Dayton. Tickets are on sale for
that contest and the remaining 35 home games at all ticket master outlets.
