Greg Bird to Begin Rehab Stint with Tampa on Thursday, June 1st

Tampa, Fla. - The New York Yankees have announced that first baseman Greg Bird will begin a Minor League Rehabilitation assignment with the Class-A Advanced Tampa Yankees.

The 24-year-old is scheduled to begin his stint on Thursday, June 1st, when the T-Yanks face the Charlotte Stone Crabs at 7:00 p.m.

Bird was placed on the 10-day disabled list on May 2nd after re-aggravating a bone bruise in his right ankle that he originally suffered at the end of Spring Training.

The Aurora, Colorado native last played for the T-Yanks in 2014, batting .277 (76-for-274) with 36R, 22 doubles, one triple, 7HR, 32RBI and 44BB in 75 games.
