Greensboro Falls to Grand Rapids

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, suffered a, 103-77, setback to Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit Pistons affiliate) on Friday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The Swarm drop to 7-26 overall on the season while the Drive improve to 18-14.

After a back-and-forth first quarter with eight lead changes, Grand Rapids pulled ahead and would maintain the lead until the final buzzer. The Drive outscored Greensboro, 27-15, in the second quarter to take a 15-point advantage going into halftime (51-36).

Grand Rapids extended their lead after the break, bettering the Swarm, 32-19, in the third quarter. Greensboro outscored the Drive in the final frame, but it was not enough as Grand Rapids came out on top, 103-77.

The Drive shot 51 percent for the game and were locked in defensively, recording 15 steals with six coming from Tra-Deon Hollins. Bench players Adam Woodbury (18 points) and Tre'Shawn Thurman (16 points) were the top scorers for Grand Rapids while starters Todd Withers and Donta Hall each tallied 15 points.

Caleb Martin, on assignment from the Charlotte Hornets, scored a game-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in 39 minutes of play. Hornets two-way player Ray Spalding provided a spark off the bench with 18 points and seven rebounds in 31 minutes.

Greensboro returns to the hardwood in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, at the Menominee Nation Arena on Thursday, February 13, at 8:00 p.m. ET when they take on the Wisconsin Herd.
