Tenerife Outlasts Vipers in FIBA Intercontinental Cup

TENERIFE, Spain - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers fell to Iberostar Tenerife CB on Friday afternoon in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup Semifinal, 89-110, in Santiago Martin Arena. The Vipers competed in the first ever FIBA competition in franchise history.

RGV kept the entire game close but Tenerife outshot the Vipers and struck the lead in the fourth. Overall, the Vipers shot 51.7% from the field and 66.7% from beyond the arc. Guard Jabari Brown led for the Vipers with 15 points adding a lone steal. He shot 62.5% from the field.

Along with Brown, RGV had four other players hit the double-digits; Kerwin Roach II (13 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal), Isaiah Taylor (13 points, seven assists) Jarell Martin (13 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks) and Brandon Sampson (12 points). Taylor completed five 3-point shots, shooting 71.4%.

For Iberostar, Santi Yusta led the game with 31 points, adding seven rebounds, three assists and five steals. Tenerife had a total of five other players who scored in the double figures. Overall, Iberostar shot 54.2% from the field and 67.5% from beyond the arc.
