(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos announced the signing of import wide receiver Tony Tompkins and kicker Chris Brewer today.
Tompkins appeared in 33 games over 3 years at Stephen F. Austin. His 56 receptions for 821 yards in 2004 earned him First Team All-SLC honours for the Lumberjacks. He also added another 66 yards on the ground on 23 carries.
Brewer spent four years at Wingate University and hit nine-of-15 field goals and 35-of-41 extra points in 2004. He made a league-leading 10-of-13 field goals in 2003 and was good on 32-of-33 extra points. Brewer was named a second-team 2003 Daktronics NCAA Division II all-star as a punter and a first-team All-South Atlantic Conference as a punter and a place kicker.
