
Argos set to open training camp

TORONTO, ON â The Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts will have their first 2005 practice as training camp opens in less than a week and record numbers of fans will come out to watch as part of a new program, presented by Tim Hortons. Competition should be fierce as almost every player from last year's team will return this season. 2004 Grey Cup MVP Damon Allen and 2004 All Stars Noah Cantor, Kevin Eiben, Noel Prefontaine, Clifford Ivory and Orlondo Steinauer will take to the field, along with some new faces like DE Riall Johnson and QB Scott Covington.
The players report for medicals on Saturday, May 28, with the first 2005 practice happening on Sunday, May 29 at 3:00 p.m. Two-a-day practices begin on Monday, May 30. Generally, practices will be held at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, unless otherwise announced. Coaches and players will be available to the media for quick hits immediately following practice. One-on-one interviews should be set up in advance with Beth Waldman.
A special new program, entitled Tim Hortons "Camp With the Champs", will take place the week of May 30. Schools from all around the GTA will bring their students to the morning practice to watch the Argos in action. The players will meet the students and sign autographs following practice as part of this program. Close to 1000 students are expected each day.

Training camp is open to the general public. Fans of the Boatmen can come out to UofT at Mississauga, 3359 Mississauga Rd. North, Upper Field, and cheer on the 2004 Grey Cup Champs.
