Grasshoppers hop all over Legends

APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY)- Thomas Hickman hit two home runs to lead the Greensboro Grasshoppers to a 7-3 victory over the Lexington Legends Friday. The Legends loss marked the second time Lexington had been swept in a series this season.

Hickman connected with his first home run, a two-run shot, in the fifth inning off Carlos Ladeuth. His second blast, a solo shot, came in the seventh inning of Luis Pardo.

Lexington started the scoring in the first inning with their only run until the seventh inning. Craig Corrado led the game off with a single and advanced to second on a balk. Corrado then stole third base and scored on Eric Taylor's groundout.

Greensboro broke through with two run in the third inning off Ladeuth. Emilo Ontiveros singled to lead-off the inning. He advanced to second on a single from Hunter Mense and moved to third on a walk from Ryan Curry. Bryan Petersen drove Ontiveros and Mense home with a single to right field.

The Grasshoppers first two batters in the fourth inning reached base to set up another scoring threat. Matt Dominguez doubled and advanced to third on Daniel Garcia's single to right. Dominguez then scored on a balk from Ladeuth.

Jonathan Fixler cut into the lead with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Bryan Peterson added a solo home run to plate the Grasshoppers final run of the game in the ninth inning.

Carlos Ladeuth dropped to 2-6 with the loss and Alejandro Sanabia won his first game of the season for Greensboro.

The Legends were previously swept April 11-14 by Augusta. The Legends will meet West Virginia for two games this weekend before heading on a seven game road trip to close out the first half of the season.
