
'Jackets continue solid play at home

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (35-26) and Hickory Crawdads (28-34) began a three game series Friday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium with Augusta coming away with a 16-10 win. The GreenJackets set new season high marks for runs scored in a game and hits with 18 collected Friday night.
Augusta opened up a 12-2 lead after scoring in the first five innings but Hickory rallied back with eight unanswered runs to move to within two runs, 12-10. Augusta used a four run seventh inning to put the game back out of reach. Thomas Neal was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, then Andrew Davis walked and Matt Klimas came through a two-run single.
Starter T.J. Brewer (4-4) recorded the win allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits. The right-hander did not walk a batter and struck out two.
Thomas Neal and Klimas each drove in three runs to lead the offense. Neal finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Klimas was 2-for-5.
Garrett Baker and Brock Bond each collected four hits in the game for Augusta. The GreenJackets scored in every inning except the sixth and eighth innings. Augusta scored four times in both the fifth and seventh innings.
Every starter in the lineup for Augusta reached base safely with a hit or walk. Angel Villalona and Baker each had two RBI nights as well.
Brewer left in the sixth inning with a 12-4 lead and two runs on. Dan Runzler came in relief and allowed the two inherited runs to score to make it 12-6.
Orlando Yntema then allowed four more runs to score on three hits in an inning of work to allow the Crawdads to trim the lead to two.
Andrew De La Garza worked 1.1 scoreless innings after Yntema striking out one then Daniel Otero closed out the ninth allowing one walk.
The GreenJackets and Crawdads continue their series Saturday night with Augusta sending lefty Craig Clark (4-0, 4.47) to the mound. Hickory will counter with right-hander Duke Welker (1-2, 3.90). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Game Notes:
Augusta improved to 18-15 at home this season
Brock Bond had a season high four hits while Baker also had four hits. The sixth and seventh time this season a GreenJackets player had collected four hits in a game.
Of the 18 hits, just two hits for Augusta were an extra base hits, Garrett Bakers two doubles.
The 16 runs were the most allowed by Hickory this season.
